Graphic identity

When we first thought of an image for the ISHPSSB Porto Meeting, we came up with a story of Porto related to the history, philosophy and social studies of biology – bacterial mesosomes as facts or artifacts and the work of Manuel Teixeira da Silva carried out in the 1970s at the University of Porto. This was our starting point. The image of the meeting could somehow tell this story and include a clearer reference to Porto. This is where the insight of graphic design entered: circles as a common pattern between (some) mesosomes and the windows of the dome of an emblematic building in Porto, the “Super Bock Arena – Pavilhão Rosa Mota”, a building which will dominate the landscape throughout the conference.
